Dr Charlotte McDonald is a professor in history, philosophy, political science and international relations.

Her tribute to Elsie Locke was first given on 18 September 2009 at the launch of Looking for Answers: A Life of Elsie Locke at the New Zealand Parliament Buildings, Wellington.

It was later published in the Labour History Project Newsletter 47, October 2009.
